15. Alaron Shelf Clock. 5.75" Dial
Purchased at an estate sale in Long Beach, CA on 6/11/2004. It appeared to be working, but kept time very erratically (sometimes it would gain a lot of time and sometimes it would lose a lot of time). The problem was finally traced to a missing taper pin that connected the friction drive gear on the minute hand to the minute hand shaft. I was able to replace the pin without disassembling the works (very tricky). The clock now runs well and keeps good time.
14. E Ingraham Shelf Clock. 4.75" Dial
13. New Haven Shelf Clock, "Clyde" 4.75" Dial
This clock, which is over 100 years old, was acquired from an estate sale in Long Beach, CA on 4/16/2004. The clock is equipped with an alarm bell that can be set to go off up to 12 hours ahead of the current hour (minutes are just a guess). The only fixes needed were to provide a gold decal for the front glass, which had been replaced at some time in the past, and it also needed some minor case work. The clock runs good.
12. Seth Thomas Cuckoo Clock. 3.25" Dial
11. Bulova Carriage Clock. 5.75" Dial
Acquired from an estate sale in Long Beach, CA on 1/8/2004. This clock was not running, and the cause was traced to a jammed shaft on the first gear in the strike train. The fix was to disassemble the clock and install a new bushing that was long enough to provide support for the shaft. All other parts were in good shape.
9. Urgos Westminster Wall Clock "Decor." 8" Dial
8. Seth Thomas "No. 2" Tambour Mantel Clock. 3.75" Dial
This Smaller size Tambour clock was acquired from an estate sale in Long Beach, CA on 10/25/2003. The power spring was broken and needed replacement. Also, the friction spring between the minute hand and its shaft had become loose and needed re-tightening. The works was otherwise in good condition and did not require dis-assembly.
7. Unknown Maker Cuckoo w/musical movement. 3.25" Dial
I got this Cuckoo from an estate sale in Long Beach, CA. It required replacement of one missing weight and chain and both bellows. The case also needed some repair. The works was in good shape and the clock runs well. Besides the usual "Cuckoos" on the hour and half hour, it plays a few notes from a well known German beer drinking song.
6. Sessions Cathederal Clock. 4.5" Dial
This clock was acquired on 8/15/2003 by ebay auction from a seller in Richmond, Virginia. It was a real challenge to get it into working order. Several of the bearings were out of round and the clock needed a complete disassembly and bushing of the elongated holes. The case was also damaged and needed repair. It is now in good working condition.
